About the group. The EuroTPG was formed for Group Treasurers and Treasury Operations Directors overseeing treasury in Europe on behalf of global corporations. The group first met in February 2008 and will meet twice annually in the spring and autumn. This group’s day-long meetings are held in convenient locations in Europe, sometimes hosted by a member company.

Peer Group Benefits

Traditional benchmarking surveys present information out of context, and bankers often tell you what you want to hear. At The NeuGroup, we believe that information and research are stronger and more reliable within the context of peer-to-peer discussions, backed by pre-meeting surveys, individual interviews and post-meeting reports.

Unlike events sponsored by vendors or organized by industry associations, peer groups provide an opportunity for members to build a network to measure, compare and improve their treasury and finance management based on direct input from fellow practitioners.

Peer Group Member Benefits

Our unique forum provides several key advantages:

  • Exclusive peer to peer (P2P) exchange with leading corporate treasury and finance practitioners.

  • A small group environment that fosters trust, long-lasting relationships and active participation.

  • A chance to leverage The NeuGroup’s extensive network of peer groups to quickly access relevant and practical benchmarking information.

  • Online access to dedicated peer group extranet sites featuring participants’ contact details, extensive research and meeting content.
  • Members of treasury-related groups also receive a complimentary subscription to International Treasurer.

The Peer Group Process

Our peer groups are practitioner focused and member driven. Each peer group is launched with the guidance of its members, in particular its founding members. Their input guides the format of the group to provide maximum value for all participants. Typically, each meeting is limited to a group size that would fit around a discussion table (25-30 participants as a maximum). Following a pilot phase, the group participants commit to a membership that requires active participation. Members help select subsequent members in accordance with the group's mandate.

Supported by regular meetings, email discussion forums and a dedicated group website, participants can connect with each other on a consistent basis. Long-term relationships and trust build and become the key ingredients of a successful group.

The NeuGroup works with members to plan and organize the group meetings in the following ways:

  • We help members select top issues for discussion with the help of a meeting planning teleconference and individual calls with the members.

  • Together with members, we build an agenda, select a meeting host and choose meeting dates. If any openings are available, we approach other companies to join.

  • We conduct preliminary research for meetings and interview members to determine their current experience and practices as related to the meeting themes. Participants should expect to invest a minimum of two or three hours for this pre-meeting research.

  • After gathering information, the NeuGroup identifies the key participants to present at the meeting, finalizes the agenda, moderates the meeting discussions and writes post-meeting summaries for the participants to capture the value from the exchange.

  • Finally, we prepare a list of topics with member input to focus on for the next group meeting.

How to Join

Professionals interested in joining one or more of our peer groups should contact The NeuGroup. We will approach existing group participants to approve the new member.

Fees: To cover research, organization and other costs, the NeuGroup charges an annual membership fee of $3,000-3,750*. To subsidize membership fees, meeting sponsors are selected with member input to help underwrite these costs.

Participants must agree to the terms in any group agreement regarding confidentiality.

Peer Groups are not for everyone. Joining requires a commitment to be actively involved and contribute. The meetings are interactive and intense. The process requires input from members at various stages, and to benefit fully, members must be willing to share in order to learn from others. There are no seats in the "back of the room."

Sponsoring Peer Group Meetings

To supplement member fees and to benefit from outside subject-matter expertise, The NeuGroup invites organizations to sponsor individual group events based on agenda topics and the members’ recommendations.

Because of each group’s uniquely interactive and member-driven format, sponsorship is very different from the typical seminar or conference sponsorship. Sponsors are selected on their ability to provide value to the discussion through active participation and technical expertise. Often, sponsors are recommended by group members. (Group members reserve the right to conduct a closed door session without the sponsor present.)

Sponsorship lets the sponsor organization demonstrate its ability to add value in the process. Sponsor organizations are recognized for their support of the group meeting, and The NeuGroup works closely with the sponsor participants to help them leverage this support to further their relationships with group members and others interested in finance or treasury management (e.g., readers of our publication, International Treasurer).

The sponsoring organization can send up to four representatives to each session. The NeuGroup works closely with the sponsoring organization to explain the peer group format’s value and the interactive dynamics of the event. We also help the sponsor’s experts identify and develop a brief presentation on one of the key agenda items.

While sponsors get an exclusive “seat at the table,” their participation in the forum helps both sides. Service providers gain access to the real challenges of their client base. Input from practitioners helps shape future product and service innovations to address corporate concerns.
